I played in In F with Mr.Toru Tenda(contrabass flute)’s group. The pianist was Mr.Kazuto Simizu whom I had played with in unbel tipo plus and Mr.Yoshimi on Tabla. It was the first time to hear real Tabla live and I was astonished how it changes the feeling of the air. To think that Yoga was born in a country with such music is exciting and I want to learn more about India.
The first set was completely free improvisation. The world Tenda-san Simizu-san and Yosimi-san makes is so creative there is so much to learn.
The second set we played songs we all brought and my song was “Night” from my CD.
After the show I had the chance to play Tenda-san’s contrabass flute.
After the tour my plan was to sleep for 36hours and go out to the park and drink herb tea and think about the future but as my usual pattern I found that I had kept loads of things to do after I had finished the tour so I have been spending very busy days recently.
Aldo there was some interesting news so I shall write it briefly.
In the day time played in the peninsula hotel for the first time. It is at the lobby and it has a very high ceiling and it is hard to explain but the stage leads from the 2nd floor and it about 10m high. The problem is I am afraid of heights but there are 6 stages so I somehow got used to it.
It is not on my schedule but I will be playing there a few times recently. 20th from 12:20 to 18:00 22nd from 15:20 to 18:00. It is a very nice atmosphere so if you want to spend some luxury time it should be a nice place.
In the night I played in Mr.Hideto Kanai’s group which I was looking forward so much. It was in the Asian culture center. It was a great joy to be able to play his wonderful originals but the climax was unexpectedly in the song “Tenesy Waltz” . Kanai-san’s Bass was so beautiful I nearly cried. His power of “one sound” is so strong.
I went o Mr.Yukihiro Atumi’s 2nd album recording. His way of making music is very unique and very interesting. I felt a new world I hadn’t known yet. I think it will be a very good album.
After getting home I rushed to write my article for the magazine “The Flute”

I some how finished writing the column so that was a relief.
I went to teach at a-note in Mejiro and after that I went to Naru in Yoyogi.
The photo is with Ms.Akane Nakagaki whom has just released her debut album.
The last gig of my CD [Miya’s Book:Music For Seven Days] tour.
This tour was such a great experience for me I felt quite sad when it finished.
It was with the amazing musicians again.
The music Mizutani-san, Sotoyama-san and Imahori-san create is so mature I wanted to listen to it for ever.
Many people came which was great for the last day.
I am so lucky to be able to play with such amazing musicians and I would like to thank every one who kindly participated on this tour, also all the staff and managers of the jazz clubs we performed and most of all every one who came and supported us.
The events for this CD has ended now and I will be working on some new plans from now but it will still be sold on the internet and jazz clubs so if you still do not have please check it out.
I went to Kanazawa to play at Ms.Mimori Yusa’s Concert as a guest player. It is a event that has been going for 8 years and been hold in a few places and every where there is a different guest. I was lucky to be able to play at one of them.
Mimori-San’s music is beautiful and heartwarming and I always enjoy a lot playing it.
The big event for me was that she sang my song Tri.
I shall never forget how beautiful it sounded and I realized again how a great musician she is.
The members of café mimo Mr.Nisiumi and Mr.Kusunoki were amazing musicians and the staff were so nice it was a great environment to work.
It was a concert for 2 hours and I played two songs near the last and the encore. Many little efforts you can see to keep the audience enthusiastic and there is a lot to learn from.
I played at a Jazz festival by the great pianist/composer/arranger Mr.Norio Maeda.
Many famous musicians were there and I was given the rear chance to be able play as a new comer.
Since I play the flute I do not have many chances to hear and play with Big Bands. The windbreakers sound was like the king of jazz and Mr.Norio Maeda has such a strong atmosphere it was a great honor to be on the same stage.
My job for today is to play Mal Waldron’s “Trane’s soul eyes” He is one of the musicians that I am most interested in now and I feel something Japanese in this tune which I wanted to express with my flute.
Nearly 1600 people were there and it was a great experience.
I had not played my original song Tri with Nao for a while but I remembered something important playing with him.
He was actually who gave the name to this song.
When I was still a student at University Nao was a famous guitar player among the students. When I was sitting in the student lounge, he happened just to past by so I had the opportunity to ask his opinion about the song I had just written.
He said “Why don’t you call it Tri like Portuguese since it is in 3/4” and that is how my song got it’s name.
I never dreamed that we would be able to play again many years after.
You never know what will happen in your life.
Talking about Music I am still in the middle of my CD release tour but the best thing I learned was how to make music stereophonic. I don’t think I have mastered it yet but I feel the change in the sound.
The great acoustic of Incas and wonderful members, nice regular customers.
By the way the Magazine [The Flute] which I write a jazz corner has come out this month.
I have written about chords and the information you want to know to improvise and I think it will really help you if you are going to start to improvise. Please check it out.
The main event of this tour where all the recording members gather together.
I guess it will be only once in my life to be able to play with such wonderful musicians.
It is like a miracle that even this members came together.
Mr,Yamasita’s amazing huge energy. Mr.Imahori’s astonishing speed. Mr.Sotoyama’s drumming makes the music stereophonic and Mr.Mizutani always has the best support.
Energy from inside which I couldn’t imagine even my self came up and 2 sets went past in such a short time.
Also I was surprised how much energy that was left in me when I woke up the next day.
There was one thing I wanted to do that day.
If I was a listener I think I would really want to dance with these members. Not even a dance but just to move my body to the music would be so comfortable.
I couldn’t do it on stage but on the encore I manage to do my little dance at the edge of the stage and it felt so good!
When I think after everything has ended I really feel that without going out on that tour I would have never be able to do such a performance like that night.
Momo had come from Toyama to give support and I would like to say thank you to her and every one who had supported me on the tour. Also to every one who came to the Pit Inn.
The tour is still going on.
I really hope that I can meet you in Kamakura and Kunitaci.
The first day was in Kyoto. I met Mr.Mizutani and Mr.Sotoyama whom had just finished another tour in Osaka. We played in Ubernguiid This day we played with a band called [Kumo] a very interesting brass band using some unusual percussion instruments. Their playing was very heart warming.
Mr.Mizutani arrangend [What I heard in the warter] and {Mirage}(from my last album) I had no image for the brass band actually it sounded great and I really enjoyed it.
しゃしんは「くも」のみなさん。ありがとうございました。
The photo is with the members of Kumo. Thank you so much.
The next day we went to Toyama. Everyone was worrying if we could get there safely because it was snowing hard but some how we managed to get there safely.
Momo the wonderful pianist joined us there and I played in Hinode Syou Gekijyou for the first time. I have been played in Toyama and Kanazawa a number of times with Momo as a duo so there were some familiar faces in the audience which was a great joy. The songs that we were playing in a duo became so much dynamic with the power of Mr.Mizutani and Mr.Sotoyama. The members from {Fureai Station} came and gave us some beautiful flowers. Thank you so much.
Every thing is perfect playing with Mr.Mizutani and Mr.Sotoyama but one of the best parts is the quality of the sound. Not pushing the volume, gentle and stereophonic sound where you can hear all the harmonics. It is very rear situation to be in such a comfortable situation for me but when I am with the two of them I can easily go in to that point. They must have put in a lot of time to get there. I must study too.
After the concert we went to Mokuba a Jazz café I have been a number of times. All the staff came and it was a very at-home atmosphere. Mokuba has many records and I was satisfied to request some music I wanted to listen.
We bought some trout sushi for lunch and went all prepared. On the way we found another sushi shop so we went there too. Toyama is famous for fresh sea food.
富山湾の真珠 「白エビ」 The famous white shrinp of Toyama
寒ブリもいただきましたよーー
金沢は「もっきりや」に出演。ここもMomoと何回か出演している、大好きなお店です。
このメンバーでは2日目。同じ曲でもまた新しい展開で、一体感もまして、とっても楽しかった。
We played in Kanazawa Mokkiriya. I have played there a number of times with Momo. A place I love. It is the second day with this members so we had more a sense of unity and I enjoyed it a lot.
For the after hours we went to Itaru next to mokkiriya and enjoyed to our hearts content all the delicious sea food. When I am in Tokyo we can not stay that late after playing so it was a nice experience to be able to spend some time with the musicians. It was Momo’s last day but as she played so fantastically we all wanted her to come to Nagoya too and she kindly agreed so it became the four of us again.
The last day was in Nagoya Tokuzo.f Playing 4 days in a row was such a good experience because you can develop every day. Some people that I had met when I came to Nagoya on my own came which was a joy.
