It was my first time to play in Nicas. Also it was my first approach to play with Mr.Tsuzuki and Mr.Shimada but it was turned out great because they are so good musicians.
Recently I something really good is happening to me. I don't know why but places that I can play with out a mike is increacing. It is great.
Nicas has that feeling that people here love Jazz in the air and it is great to be able to play in that sort of place. Thank you so much for coming today.
We have played a number of times recently. We played all sorts of types of songs originals, brasilian, jazz songs and japanese songs. I felt that the japanese songs went down the best. I think I must play more japanese songs from now on.
After that I played in pit inn with Mr. Mizutani’s group phonolite. Playing with Mr.Mizutani(bass) Mr.Sotoyama(Drum),Mr.Oogimi(Perc) creates such a groove that I feel like I am in space or some where out of this world. Also mr.Nakamure(Guitar) has such an amazing approach it is a very exciting band. Mr.Mizutani’s arrangement is really good and I enjoy playing all the long notes. He prefers one person to play many types of instruments and I had to play piccolo on one tune. I don’t like playing the piccolo because it is so difficult to get the right pitch but actually I quite enjoyed it so maybe I shall try it again.
Today I went to Kunitachi music university to teach for one day. Mr. Yamashita Yosuke is teaching there every week now. It was an interesting experience because I have been through all that learning and to see it from a different view
Many jazz musicians say that jazz cann’t be learned. I agree to that in some points but I think now Jazz is not a part of our daily life any more. If it was still popular and easy to see great musicians close to our life maybe there would be no need. But now days I think teaching will really widen all sorts of possibilities specially for instruments like us.
I can hardly explain how an amazing experience the live in the Gallery was. We wanted to produce the same effect with the music and dance and photos all in the same balance. It was the first time for us and also probably for the audience too. It was such a new feeling. The instrument coustruction was very simple just the bass and flute and the dance was like an instrument too just going between the two of us. Also having photos taken live gave a lot of energy and being surrounded by the beautifully carm photos on the wall gave an other cool effect.
The stage was in the middle of the gallery so the audience could see the faces of the rest of the audience on the other side which was also interesting.
Today Mr.Shindo made the plans. We have played a lot tougher but it is the first time that we have played with this combination. It turned out great. His two sides the powerfulness and the silent ness was beautiful
The next time with the same members is at Roppongi Alfie planned by Orie. I must plan something too.
Today I played with Syunaro band with Mr.Naoi on guitar as a guest. It was great fun. Syuntaro and Mr. Naoi are my aim as a musician. I want to become a kind person like them. Thank you so much who came today to Swing.
At last tomorrow is the football match for Japan. My only hope is to ask for a game that I can feel the energy of the players. I really hope that it won’t become like the last one. My opinion is that even if we lose it doesn’t matter if we can feel that they have tried there best.
I don7t know why but I am watching a lot of football this year. Maybe it is because the foreign players are so good looking!
Today I played with Yukari at Akasaka Kanayuni. Somebody said are you sisters? What do you think? I bet it me would be great fun if we were sisters. So many people came I was surprised. Kanayuni is a very extraordinary place.
In the day the day time we rehearsed for the Hello goodbye project held in Aoyama Ichy’s gallery. Based on Sohei’s Idea it went really well. I do not have a lot of experience playing with dancers but it is really inspiring. The way Rena dances is like she is the music and that means that maybe music doesn’t need even the sound. I guess it is all about energy.
Today I played at Kamimachi 63 for the first time. It was a great place all the the first time. It was a great place all the energy of the musitians who has played there were in the walls.
I feel that people in Yokohama love jazz are supportive compared to Tokyo. I would love to live in Yokohama one day.
Mr. Nakamure's music is so pure and beautiful there is a lot to learn.
The world cup has started and I bet it will be great fun.
Today we played in Kamakura Daphne. The singer Ryutaro joined in and it was a great night! Even us Musitians have many things happening in our life but when the music starts every thing goes. It is so interesting. Music is living too!
Today I went to prepare for the gallery live. The photo is with the owner Mr.Ichikawa, Dancer Rena Organizer Mr.Inutsuka. We have many ideas now and are excited that it will become a great event satisfying all are sences. Vision, Sound and also we may be able to provide some home made delicious food so it will even cover our taste sences. It will be in the afternoon so please be careful about the time and I advise you to come in relaxing clothes because it will be mainly standing. It will definetly be something different from a jazz club so please look forward to it. We will have tickets so please contact the gallery or ask me for any more information.
Today we had some great listeners which was a great help. I felt again that music is made by every one's energy! I forgot to take a photo again. sorry.
It is a while since we last played tougher as our band Story tellers. We have been playing for about a year and are hoping to make a CD. Hopefully I will be able to tell some good news soon.
The next gig with the story tellers is at Kamakura Daphne. Daphne has delicious food but I am a great fan of the bread they make. It is German Type hard bread. Please drop in after site seeing Kamakura!
At last I have time after coming back to Japan so I have time after coming back to Japan so I will update some photos. This is a photo of Chichester cathedral where my grandfather's 90th birthday party was held.
