Today it was the first time for Ms.Nomoto on piano and Mr.Taki on drums to play in cubic note and also the first time for us to play in someday so it was a challenging day. I have a lot to look back today but the members played great.It was quite thrilling. We are playing in J our home ground in Sinjuku on the 2nd of May. This time we are having a sub on the piano and bass so it should be new and fun!
Today I played with Syntaro's band with Mr. Naoi as a guest.I was fulled with the passionate sound of the guitar. It is great to be able to play with some one that is your aim. I can really relax in Syuntaro’s band. I guess this is the power of the leader. By the way did you know there was an earth quake today. I didn’t realize at all playing the flute. Is’nt it strange!
Today we had Mr.Saito to come as a sub for story tellers. It was a fresh experience. Ms. Ami Fukui on piano came to sit in which was fun to. Also there was something interesting today. There is a garrery called ichys in aoyama and the owner is a very interesting person. We are thinking to do something fun there. For example it may be playing with artists drawing live pictures or even with dancers. I am thinking about the new jazz so I am feeling this would be a good chance.
Today I played at Mr. Maeda ‘s concert finding new young jazz players. I wondered if I was OK to play amoung people that had just started their carrier but I guess I am a secound year player as a pro so I ‘m still ok. In the world of kabuki or Rakugo even if you are fourty you are still young and I think it is a bit simmilar to the jazz world. I think my carrier is just starting now but still this 2 years means a lot to me. I have played with many people and met many ways of thinking. Now I am thinking about my interptaion of jazz. I’ll talk about that later but today seemed ashame. The sound condition was really bad and the music was just like introducing us and not really musical. Although it was worthwhile just to be able to play with Mr. Maeda.
It was my first time to play in lassiette. It was a very nice place, I could play with out a mic and the food was great. Playing duo with Mamoru is great with a lot of possibilities and freedom. Recently I have thinking a lot of things amd I want to write it here but I need to sort out my head before I can write.

I love Siori's sound. I think she is the only jazz viola player in Japan. Her sound is deep and rich and great to play with. Maybe l felt it more because she didn't use any PA.I am astonished how big sound she makes. She is changeing the image of the viola. Yukari's piano was beautiful as usuall and I could play but beautiful which I was looking forward to so it was a good day.
Today was a very special day for me. We played at the foreigners Japanese speech contest in fucyuu. We planed the program carefully so it would be easy to listen and did some Japanese songs too. The members today are around my same age and it was easy to talk so we discussed about the music before we played. It was at a hall so it was hard to tell what the audience were feeling but after at the party many people came up to us and told that they enjoyed so I felt relieved. Also it was a very honored feeling. There were 2 things I learnt today. The first is to believe in whoever you are playing with. Playing jazz you often have to play with somebody you have just met 1 hour ago so it often ends up becoming showing off just your ability. I learned today that it is very important to trust the members.
スケートの荒川選手と一緒で(ホント大ファンになっちゃった)人と争ったり比べたりという事が大嫌いなのだけど、キュービックはいい意味で刺激になります。続けていく事でなんだか成長できそう。今日はあけみさん作のキュービックノートのテーマ(これ、かっこいいの。明るくてハッピーで。)と私がアレンジしたアルトフルート三本によるTell me a bed time story を初演しました。キュービックノートのテーマは毎回オープニングで演奏する予定ですので、お楽しみに！
I hate to conpete with other people but playing in cubic note gives me good energy. I feel that I will be able to develop my ability playing in this band. We played 2 new songs one is cubic note’s theme written by Akemi and the other is Tell me a bed time story by Herbie Hankock arranged by me for 3 Alto flutes.
What I thought today is that the way we play the flute reffers to the way we speak. Akemi's flute is sharp and has a lot of wit. Naoko's flute seems warm and sencitive. I guess I have the same character as I talk playing the flute.
I always am astonished by Mr. Hashimoto’s drum solo which is so energetic. Mr. Nakabayashi on bass is the 2nd time to play in this band but he played great to fit in wit us. Mr. Hori’s piano is so glamourlous they are great people to play with.
I wish this band will be more known to fluteists and other people.
Also before we played today we had a meeting to test a new flute. It is from Akiyama Flute made by some new texuture. It was interesting because it seemen like the sound went straight and directly to the far end.
Every time I play with Yukari I am astonished by her sophisticated musical expressions and beautiful sound. Also she is a very interesting person so it is fun to be tougher. I love playing duo.
初顔合わせのメンバーでした。フルートという楽器なので、ドラムは大好きだけどなかなかいつも音量的に苦労するのです。斎藤良さんとは2回目ですが、独創的で洗練されたスタイルで、ご一緒していてすごく楽しいです。雛祭りライブという事で、何を演奏するか色々迷ったのですが、春にまつわる曲を何曲か演奏しました。今まであまりやってなかったけど、It might as well be springっていい曲だなー。やっと春もきそうだし、いっぱい演奏するぞ。

It was my first time to play with tonight’s members. It is always a problem for me to play with drums because of the sound problem although I love the drum. But it was great to play with Ryo. His sound is really smart will with originality. I hope we can play again tougher. We played some songs referring to spring. One of them was It might well be spring. I didn’t realize it was such a good tune. I shall play it more!
I haven't been out of my home for a few days busy studing how to write music and checking Sizuka Arakawa on tv. So it is a joy just to be able to talk to people.
Anyway today it was the first time we played tougher but it was really fun. I love the sound of Jessy. It has a good echo. In this kind of situation I don't have to play strongly which means that I have to have good control of the flute. This is difficult but worth working for.Todays audience were very supportive and I am feeling that that kind of energy is very important in making music. I am going to make more challenges!
